Judy Frothinger, the daughter of German Russian immigrants, was born and raised in western South Dakota. Judy’s father was born in Omsk, Siberia, Russia, where her grandfather was a schoolteacher. Judy’s mother was born in Canada, after the family emigrated from the Volga region of Russia.
Judy has a degree in Psychology from Sonoma State University in California. She has pursued writing with a goal of preserving the history of her people. She is a three-time winner of Storytelling Contests of the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia. She lives in Santa Rosa, California, with her husband, Mike.
